Cogeneration involves the use of the heat generated as a by-product in electricity generation equipment (engines, boilers, turbines) in plant processes, generating savings in the fuel required. Furthermore, cold may be generated from the heat produced (trigeneration).
The high degree of flexibility offered by these systems, their high efficiency and the ability to export the electricity generated to the network enable a considerable environmental improvement, in addition to economic benefits for the developer.
